Purpose Drives Action

PURPOSE DRIVES ACTION

Human being have unlimited potential for creativity, to live lives of accomplishment, joy and personal fulfillment. Unfortunately, most people never even strive to realize their potential much less come any where near realizing it. They do not know where they want to go, how to get there or what they want to achieve in this life. Why is that?

In order to live an expanded life there are several components that need to be in place. We need to have a sense of why we are here on this earth – we need to know our purpose in life; we need a vision for the future; we need to know how we are going to get there; and finally, we need to have a vital connection between these components and our daily lives. In order for us to live within a higher dimension of consciousness all of these factors have to be operative. Living within that realm of consciousness is a choice.

When that choice becomes conscious we unleash the potential within us to live creative lives and achieve personal fulfillment. For many people the ability to make that choice requires a paradigm shift in consciousness and self understanding.

A paradigm is the structure for our self-understanding and it incorporates the assumptions, points of view, rules and assurances that a system lives by and operates within (Thomas Kuhn, The Structure of Scientific Revolution).

I want you to hear this: our paradigm for life either gives us the capacity to make that vital connection between our higher purpose in life and how we are going to achieve it, or it subverts it.

Many people wander through life without a sense of meaning and purpose because their paradigm is below the level of consciousness and they are unaware of it. They are totally unaware of the forces that are driving their life.

Rather than having a paradigm for life that is an agent of transformation which gives meaning and purpose to life, they wander in darkness a slave to forces that seem beyond their control.

When this is the case activity dominates meaning and purpose. They spend their days in meaningless activity that does nothing more than fill the hours of the day. The goal of life is to have purpose dominate action so the things we do in our daily lives are connected with our source of power. Making those life-giving vital connections is a choice on our part. This is stuff of transformation.

Spiritual transformation is not just change – it is systemic change, it is fundamental change, it is a qualitative change in our self-understanding. It is paradigmatic change which transforms the quality of our lives.

We cannot go back and make a new start. We cannot go back and change history, but we can start today and make a new future. We can start the process of understanding ourselves and the world we live in from a fresh perspective today. Purpose driving action empowers the journey that takes us to that brand new ending.
